“This is more than a story about drinking—it’s a journey through pain, fear, and ultimately, redemption. “I Drank” is a powerful testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the transformative beauty of finding oneself in the darkness.”

— Carla Preston Boyer

  • I drank, and I came alive.

I drank, and I suddenly fit in.
I drank, and was the life of the party.
I drank so I could do my job.

I drank but booze eventually lied to me.
I drank, and I began to feel empty, dark, lonely, afraid.
    And so, I drank…

  • "I Drank".

An unflinching journey through the darkest recesses of addiction and the extraordinary power of redemption. In this gripping memoir, the author bares her soul, chronicling her harrowing descent into alcohol dependency and the agonizing struggle to reclaim her life.

  • raw, unfiltered honesty.

Carla takes readers deep into her experience, exposing the seductive pull of alcohol and its devastating grip on her relationships, self-worth and very existence. Every page pulses with the relentless tension between the allure of escape and the desperate yearning for freedom.

  • But “I Drank” is more than a story about drinking.

It’s a piercing exploration of the deeper emotions and wounds that the author was desperately trying to numb and outrun—feelings of pain, fear, and unworthiness that fueled her spiral into addiction. It’s a testament to the indomitable human spirit, a narrative of resilience, rebirth, and the profound beauty of rediscovering oneself in the ashes of addiction. This memoir doesn’t just tell a story; it leaves an indelible mark, inspiring anyone who reads it to believe in the possibility of transformation, no matter how deep the darkness.

“ When I opened my new book "I Drank",  I didn't know exactly what to expect.  Spirituality?  The road to sobriety? A story of self discovery?
There on page 4 were the most important instructions for Carla’s book: "Take what fits and leave the rest".

With each story, she tells of the loss, tragedy, sadness, grief...yet you can see the strong woman she is with how she processes each event.
Grief and sadness will take hold, will drag you down.  Sobriety is more than just "abstinence from drugs and alcohol", it is being clear minded and free of the fog which holds us back from feeling and seeing things for what they truly are.
Spirituality is what you turn to when you no longer have the answers, and it doesn't have to be a religious mindset, it is what brings you peace.  Deep down we all have the strength to survive what's ahead, we just have to find it in our own way.

I encourage anyone who even has a spark of interest in reading this book, to check it out— it is also available for Kindle! ”
