This is what her Soul longed for

Girl in the 1980's with big hair wearing a pink bridemaid's dress

She was no longer alone.

They were certainly not the actions and behaviours of a respectable young lady, especially one who had grown up in a Christian household.

Acting out in ways that had her family feeling confused. Wondering how to get a handle on her wild ways.

Her disrespect toward her parents, toward the strong religious beliefs she had grown up with.

Partying was all she wanted to do. She lived for the freedom it gave her. Living wild and free without a care in the world.

Just a bit of teenage fun, she thought. What’s the big deal? Except it lasted into her early fifties. Not everyday and not huge quantities, but the thoughts and feelings she was trying to escape were the same nevertheless.

Feelings of shame so deep that to face it would be too much. If she began to cry, she may never stop. The pain in her soul would rip her apart.

Layers of guilt built up like paint on an old dresser.

Unsure of exactly what was causing all the unmanageability of her life, she took the step to darken the doors of a spiritual space.

These meetings of spiritually like minded people would show her how to love herself again. No judgement, simply love and understanding, because nothing she could share was shocking or shameful.

This was what her spirit ached for her entire life. A connection to spiritual people and a connection to a Power Beyond all Understanding.

A Higher Power that she can surrender to, to which she can surrender her life, the ache, the past, the remorse, all the pain.

She no longer needs to carry it alone. It’s not necessary to carry it at all.

If and when she’s ready, she can hand it all over to that Power to take off her shoulders. She can now truly have the freedom she had always been seeking.
